Derek Prue Sr. got a tattoo similar to his son’s birthmark so he’d be less embarrassed by his features. The father made this decision when he noticed that his child refused to take off his T-shirt in the pool.

He was still proud of his mole, then I noticed he was starting to hide it. I thought he was getting a little shy. And then I wanted to give myself the same birthmark, so he knew he wasn’t alone, Derek Sr said.

The man boldly went to tattoo parlor Juicy Quill Tattoo, but wasn’t quite ready for what he would have to endure.

“I thought it would be a session. But the supposed few hours turned into about 30 hours. The first session lasted about four hours. Then I asked, “Are we almost done?” And the tattoo artist said, “Yeah, I’m almost done with the sketch,” Derek Sr recalled.

Derek Sr. managed to show off his tattoo to his son when the whole family got back to the pool. The father took off his T-shirt and showed that he now had the same mark on his body.

The child could hardly believe his own eyes, but he was very happy. He had no idea dad was going to do something like that. The boy also decided to take off his T-shirt to compare how his mole looks like his father’s tattoo.

Now Derek Jr. feels much more confident and unashamed of his birthmark. All of his father’s torment in the tattoo parlor was totally worth it.
