Everyone was enchanted by the unusual relationship of this family of orangutans with the group of otters.

Nature surprises us with unexpected interactions between different creatures. This time it’s a really special friendship between a family of orangutans and loving otters that has taken over the internet.

The two families live side by side in the Belgian zoo Paili d’Isa. And cute photos recently released by the zoo show that this special bond is growing even stronger.

But keepers attribute the unexpected friendship to a program to “entertain and encourage zoo animals to be cognitively, emotionally and physically active at all times”.

The otters like to swim, and since there is only one river that runs through the cage with the orangutans, the paths eventually crossed. But no one would have imagined that the three orangutans would be so fascinated by their little neighbors.

Unfortunately, the orangutan population is now on the verge of extinction.
